FileMaker Go (for iPad)

bestreview Intro: When FileMaker Go was originally released on the iPad, we praised the database program's excellent design, multiple file layouts, and integrated search, but dinged it for the program's inability to sync with the desktop FileMaker Pro 11. FileMaker Go's latest build, version 1.2, addresses the problem (although it doesn't solve it completely), and adds digital signature capture, charting, and AirPrint to the mix. All in all, it's an solid iPad database app that can keep you productive while on the go...

Final words: FileMaker Go 1.2, despite some limitations, is a useful tool for businesspeople who want to access databases on the go, as it gives them the option of shedding a laptop or roaming free from a desktop PC. The ability to create new files and charts from scratch would be a huge benefit, but even without those feature, FileMarker Go 1.2 is a more than worthy download for those who need to quickly retrieve, or input, important data on the go.

FileMaker Go App For iPad Is A Winner

Intro: I have to use FileMaker Pro all the time so I was eager to see how the new FileMaker Go app for the iPad worked. It makes taking your Filemaker databases with you an easy experience providing users with a simple but robust way of accessing and modifying data. It’s a great tool for those that frequently use databases for work, but need to shed the bulk of a desktop or laptop machine in the field...

Final words: For users who need access to databases on the go, FileMaker Go is a great solution. I would definitely recommend it, especially for those who already have a familiarity in working with the various flavors FileMaker. The ability to connect to remote databases for a multiuser environment or simply load a database onto the device for a single users opens up so many possibilities by freeing users from the bulk of a laptop or desktop machine. For an initial release, especially, FileMaker did a superb job in the features and usability.

TUAW Review: Filemaker Go for iPad

Intro: Filemaker has brought its flagship product to a whole new level of portability with Filemaker Go for iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. Years ago I used Filemaker Mobile with a Palm, and this is a far cry from those early days. Here's what I found while testing Filemaker Go on the iPad...

Final words: As I said, this is a far cry from that old version of Filemaker Mobile I used way back when. I can see so many applications: check inventories remotely, client meetings, sales, etc. It really shines on the iPad's display and connects to remote hosts with minimal fuss. If you're serious about remote access to your data, Filemaker Go is worth your consideration.

Review: FileMaker Go for iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad

Intro: Although hundreds of new iOS apps appear every day, apps capable of transforming our handheld devices into nearly indispensable, mobile business tools come along far less frequently. FileMaker Go, recently released by Apple’s subsidiary, FileMaker, Inc., is just such a game-changer, providing professionals and small business users a way to access and edit data while on the go. FileMaker Go is available in two versions, one for the iPhone/iPod touch and another for the iPad. The introduction of FileMaker Go provides users of iOS devices the ability to both view and manipulate the sort of complex databases that enable most businesses to operate more efficiently and effectively...

Final words: FileMaker Go is pretty amazing whether you run it on an iPhone/iPod Touch or an iPad, but you’ll find it much easier to view and interact with layouts originally designed to be displayed on desktop and laptop screens on the iPad’s more expansive screen. Although both programs are expensive by iOS standards, they enable jaw-dropping mobile access to complex databases created and hosted by desktop applications ranging in cost from $300 to $3000. Most businesses that want to provide employees in the field access to their databases will consider the cost of FileMaker Go nearly negligible in comparison to the cost of other mobile client solutions. But beware, if you don’t own at least one desktop version of FileMaker Pro (version 7 or higher on either Mac or Windows) or need to access and use databases that have already been created and are available either locally or remotely hosted, FileMaker Go won’t do much more for you then occupy a slot on your home screen.

FileMaker Go 1.0 for iPhone and iPad - Mobile database app offers compelling features for any iOS device

Intro: After some time on the sidelines of mobile computing, Apple’s wholly owned subsidiary, FileMaker Inc., has introduced FileMaker Go for the iOS. FileMaker Go comes in an iPhone/iPod touch version and another for the iPad. The app’s feature set is the same on both—something like a “thin client” that serves the needs of database users but omits the design and programming elements found in FileMaker Pro. The app is a real FileMaker client that can run scripts, render layouts and evaluate calculations...

Final words: FileMaker Go is a very solid 1.0 release. It’s a true FileMaker client with support for almost every major feature of its bigger brother, FileMaker Pro. Nomadic data jockeys will find the few compromises are a small price to pay for true FileMaker mobility.

FileMaker Go for iPad Take Your Data With You [Review]

Intro: FileMaker recently released FileMaker Go for the iPad and iPhone. I’ll be taking a look at the iPad version only today, because based on my experience with technology in the Enterprise the larger format screen that the iPad provides is the way to go. I think that version will be better received by business users since the iPhone screen is much to small to use on a regular basis or at least it is for me. It’s good in a pinch, but for real work I prefer the iPad as primary and the iPhone as backup...

Final words: If you use FileMaker Pro databases and you want to remotely access these databases or have them with you on the go then FileMaker Go is an app that you need. It works well enough to make it worth your time and investment. The iPad version of this app reminds me again how useful my iPad can be for personal and business use.

FileMaker Go for iPad Review

Intro: FileMaker users, rejoice! Your wishes have been granted. On June 21, FileMaker, a subsidiary of Apple Inc., introduced FileMaker Go for accessing and modifying your FileMaker databases from the iPad. We are happy to report that this app will revolutionize the way businesses and individuals interact with their databases...

Final words: Despite its lack of PDF export, this is an app that is sure to improve mobile business computing: it’s quick, responsive, well-documented, simple, and above all useful. I highly recommend it to any business user or individual with access to FileMaker Pro versions 7 and beyond who needs mobile access to database files.

FileMaker Go for iPad review

Intro: The new FileMaker Go app allows you to view and edit databases on Apple's iPad. Karl Wright takes a closer look to tell you if it's any good. With the release of the iPad, Apple made the tablet PC cool. Happily, if your company uses the FileMaker database, then you now have a convincing excuse – sorry, “reason” - for work to buy you one...

Final words: We liked FileMaker Go for iPad. It’s easy to use. It integrates well with the other applications in the FileMaker portfolio, it makes the most of the iPad as a platform and it doesn’t cost the earth. True, it would be nice if it offered standard users better encryption, but otherwise we loved it. It’s a business app for the iPad that really makes sense. Your only real problem is how to keep the blasted screen clean in a work environment.
