Tom Clancy's Rainbox Six: Shadow Vanguard Review

bestreview Intro: Your parents always wanted you to be on an elite counter-terrorist strike team. Remember how they would incessantly harp on it over the dinner table, even when you were only 7 at the time? Well, now they get their wish, thanks to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard, the first Rainbow Six franchise game to come to the iOS platform. You take control of an elite unit tasked with taking down elements of a widespread global terrorist organization, the game breaking from the standard first-person shooter "run-n-gun" play style with tactical elements...

Final words: Even with the control/interface shortcomings, Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard delivers on its promise of bringing a fun Rainbow Six title to the iPhone and iPod touch. And while this isn't the deepest game in the world, it runs well and manages to pull you in. And the tactical elements are as fun as any other title in the series.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard Review

Intro: Up until now, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six games have been noticeably absent from the App Store. Honestly, that's a little surprising since the franchise has had games made for just about every platform. Now, however, Gameloft (which has a well-deserved reputation for quality shooters) has released Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard for the iPhone. Like a lot of Gameloft titles, the game offers a pretty solid play experience… though it does contain a few issues that detract from the overall...

Final words: Playing Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard is a bit of an odd experience, mainly because the the multiplayer gameplay isn't quite as solid as it was with Modern Combat 2 and N.O.V.A. 2, the last big shooters that Gameloft released. For the most part it's a well-made shooter with a high-quality campaign, but players might want to forego playing online until the development team irons some of the kinks out.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard Review

Intro: In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard, you play as the leader of an elite counter-terrorism task force. When terrorists do bad things, like take hostages or threaten to blow stuff up, it's your job to stop them. You do that the most satisfying way possible: by infiltrating their location and putting bullets in their head, one by one...

Final words: Overall, we had loads of fun with Shadow Vanguard. Sure, it's not all that different from the N.O.V.A.'s or the Modern Combats, and it would be nice to see Gameloft stretch themselves a little more in a future FPS. But no other company out there makes iPhone FPSes as big or exciting as Gameloft. If you want a tactical shooter in your pocket, you've come to the right place.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Comes To The iPad

Intro: Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six®: Shadow Vanguard HD ($6.99) by Gameloft is the iPad release of the popular first person shooter (FPS) game of the same name. The iPhone/iPod touch version was released four months ago, almost to the day, to much fanfare. Now, you can experience it in all its HD glory on your iPad or iPad 2...

Final words: Overall, this is a fantastic FPS game, including the ability to lead a team of soldiers to assist your missions. It looks stunning on the iPad 2 and has smooth gameplay. The online death match will keep you busy for hours. The $6.99 price tag is more than reasonable for such an action-packed adventure, filled with so many features. Fans of FPS games will not be disappointed with this one.
