djay for iPad Review: The First Essential iPad DJ App?
Intro: It’s been nearly 8 months since Apple’s iPad was released, and in that time it’s made its mark on many areas of content consumption and creation – not least of all, music making. Early apps such as Korg’s iElectribe and TouchOSC hinted at the potential of having a large, responsive multi-touch display coupled with relatively powerful hardware in such a portable device, but it’s with recent releases from big-name companies and bedroom programmers alike such as Korg’s iMS-20, Rebirth and Jasuto that the device has started to demonstrate its true potential...
Final words: Overall, djay has the hallmarks of many of the best and most enjoyable iOS apps: it is beautifully designed and incredibly easy to use, with a simple user interface that hides plenty of nice touches and offers enough depth for advanced users to pull off some great mixes without overwhelming beginners. It is beautifully designed and incredibly easy to use, with a simple user interface that hides plenty of nice touches and offers enough depth for advanced users to pull off some great mixes without overwhelming beginners. It's a mind-blowingly powerful DJ set-up that couldn't have been imagined even 5 years ago.
It will be interesting to see what competitors bring to the scene (for example, Mixr is due to arrive soon), and the future of DJing may not lie in an interface which simply reproduces the traditional decks-and-mixer layout on a touchscreen – but particularly at this price, djay is too good to miss out on. Highly recommended.

App Review: Djay for iPad
Intro: The iPad's gorgeous 9.7-inch display has been attracting attention for its musical potential, and the Djay app from Algoriddim has definitely contributed to some of the noise. The guys who brought a consumer-friendly DJing app to the Mac have gone ahead and ported it over to Apple's magical tablet, enabling pretty much anyone to get their shot on the decks. Does Djay for iPad live up to the hype? Read on past the break to find out...
Final words: Honestly, Djay is one of the most impressive music apps we've seen for the iPad to date. With a killer interface that's not too cluttered, it's sure to catch anyone's attention and make them want to play. However, the iPad's 256MB of RAM make it difficult to use for extended periods of time. Still, with tons of features in the pipeline and a rock solid user experience, we'd recommend this one to anyone who's got the $20 to spare and a desire to get the party started.

Review: Djay for iPad
Intro: Anyone who has used Djay for Mac will be intimately familiar with the interface; it's virtually the same, just cut down to make every element fit on the 10-inch screen. That's not to say that it loses much of the original functionality, and if anything it gains from the direct, hands-on nature of touch. It's much more like manipulating a real DJ deck: you can very gradually shift the crossfader from one track to the other or quickly flick to a given position. Multi-touch is here and lets you move multiple controls at once as well as pull off special tricks that are noticeably harder to do with a trackpad, such as scratching and flicking the fader at the same time...
Final words: Moreover, the financial investment is relatively light. A $20 iPad app may seem a lot by itself, especially if you need to buy the iPad at the same time, but it's actually a relative bargain compared to some digital DJ systems intended for computers; buy Native Instruments' Traktor Kontrol S4 or a refurbished Numark NS7, for example, and you've spent $999 even before putting the computer into the equation. Consequently, Djay can be a much gentler way to ease into DJ culture or just to explore your bedroom DJ impulses without having spend nearly as much as a veteran, particularly if you already have an iPad.

Algoriddim Djay for iPad
Intro: Make no mistake: with the right software, the iPad will eventually become a DJ's dream -- Apple's iOS 4.2 made the multi-touch tablet even more useful as a tool for blending together multiple audio streams at once, enabling third-party applications to load and mix multiple songs from its iPod music library. Capitalizing on iOS 4.2's improvements, German developer Algoriddim has just released Djay for iPad ($20), a new application that places you in control of two turntables, a mixing board, and recording capabilities, basic DJ tools that show how potent the iPad can be as a remixing tool in the right hands...
Final words: Overall, Djay is a good value for its $20 asking price, offering a streamlined and fun set of tools that will bring undaunted amateurs up to speed with the basics of DJing, while giving more experienced users an inexpensive way to practice and refine sets they want to perform later—quite possibly using more sophisticated tools. We would expect this application to become less memory warning prone and more feature-laden over time, and at that point, it wouldn’t be any surprise to find it playing a role in professional club performances; most of the pieces are already in place to make it happen.

Algoriddim Djay (for iPad)
Intro: With instant access to huge libraries of music, iPods and now iPads have rapidly become the weapon of choice for many DJs, and Algoriddim's Djay app is built to take advantage of a number of the iPad's best features. Finding and managing music using iTunes is easy, and the iPad's big, responsive 10-inch screen has opened up a new level of possibility and usefulness for playing and playing with music. Djay is fun and easy to use, and, while it won't come close to replacing any high-end DJ equipment (or even Algoriddim's own Djay for Mac), it's a fun tool for parties, and it's one of the best music apps available on the iPad...
Final words: Djay won't replace the professional equipment DJs spend thousands of dollars buying. As a novelty and DJ-for-Dummies guide, though, it's a fun tool: the scratching and mixing never gets old, and the Automix is a terrific party companion. Plus, for $19.99, it's about the best DJ equipment you can buy.

djay for iPad Review
Intro: As we move further and further away from vinyl, it’s become apparent that DJs both new and seasoned are looking at the iPad as a tool in their ever-changing arsenal to get your booty shaking. The touchscreen allows developers to re-create anything from old-school sound boards to fancy new apps that play music while filling your eyes with more colors than a tie-dye factory. While pushing a few buttons to create a bass groove is fun, the wannabe DJ inside each of us compels us to seek out apps like djay, with its virtual vinyl ready to rock your house parties...
Final words: Djay brings the fun of DJing to the iPad without compromise.

Djay for iPad – Review
Intro: When the iPad first launched about a year ago, the gorgeous and elegant 9.7” display really raised the bar on what was possible on a tablet device. Music professionals literally drooled over the device and immediately saw its potential. One company saw the iPad as a fantastic way to express yourself with music. That company is Algoriddim. Their first try at the DJ’ing landscape came on the Mac and was an instant hit. It gave all us wannabe Djays like myself, a chance to feel what its like to be an actual Djay. The ability to take two of your favorite songs from your iTunes library and scratch and mix them together was amazing...
Final words: In closing, I would like to say that Djay for iPad is the best DJ’ing app in the App Store to date. It has a gorgeous user interface, slick controls and it’s just plain awesome. Whether you are a professional or beginning there is no reason why you can not have fun with Djay for iPad. It is a huge success for Algoriddim in my book. They continue to listen to users and upgrade the software. I believe the sky is the limit for Djay and the team over at Algoriddim. This is an extremely impressive application. It currently retails for $19.99 USD in the iTunes App Store. Highly recommended!
