GarageBandGarageBand turns your iPad into a collection of Touch Instruments and a full-featured recording studio — so you can make music anywhere you go. Use Multi-Touch gestures to play pianos, organs, guitars, drums, and basses on your iPad. They sound and play like their counterparts, but let you do things you could never do on a real instrument. Enjoy a full range of Smart Instruments that make you sound like a pro — even if you’ve never played a note before. Plug an electric guitar into your iPad and play through classic amps and stompbox effects. Use the built-in microphone or a guitar to record, or capture any performance. Then mix up to eight tracks to create a song you can share.

GarageBand Review - Apple's flexible and affordable iPad music app deserves a Grammy

bestreview Intro: GarageBand ’11, part of Apple’s iLife suite, is a versatile application. With it, you can create musical scores by stringing together audio loops, play and record virtual instruments, record “real” instruments plugged into your Mac, create iPhone ringtones, record and assemble podcasts, create movie soundtracks, and play and record your guitar through modeled amps and effects...

Final words: There are sour individuals among us who claim that the iPad is a tool for consumption rather than creation. GarageBand for iPad proves them wrong. This amazing tool—complete with eight-track recording, easy-does-it interface, customizable and easily played virtual instruments, on-board loops, sampler, guitar amps and effects, drum machine, and tuner—may be the most inspiring musical iOS app I’ve ever used. And at a meager $5, it's an astonishing bargain. Musician or not, it’s a must-have app.

Apple GarageBand for iPad

Intro: Although third-party music creation apps have been available for iOS devices in various forms since the App Store debuted in 2008, one that had been conspicuously absent from the platform was Apple's GarageBand. Made popular on the Mac as part of the iLife suite, the desktop version of GarageBand evolved over the years from a simple multitrack MIDI and audio recording app into a full-featured music creation and education application designed for experienced and amateur musicians alike. GarageBand has seemed like a fairly natural fit for the iPad since the device made its debut last year, and it was only a matter of time before Apple brought its venerable music creation app to the mobile platform...

Final words: In the final analysis, there wasn’t anything critically important that we felt was missing or deficient in GarageBand. Like any app there’s room for growth, but everything most people will need to use and enjoy the app is in there right now and works extremely well. To be fair, it’s worth noting that the iPad version of GarageBand is currently focused on music creation and doesn’t (yet) include features such as podcast recording that are found in its desktop counterpart. However, the iPad app also adds so much more via the touch interface and Smart Instruments that as a music creation app it actually exceeds what the average user would be able to accomplish in GarageBand—unlike the desktop app, the iPad itself is the instrument and the recording and track editing device. GarageBand for the iPad doesn’t just raise the bar for music creation apps on the iPad, but in fact sets a whole new standard—an even more amazing feat considering its $5 asking price.

GarageBand Review for iPad

Intro: Having just reviewed NanoStudio for iPhone it seems like a good idea if I take Apple’s widely lauded music making app for a spin. Especially now that it has come to both the iPad and the iPad 2. GarageBand on the iPad is a completely different beast to the likes of NanoStudio – but in the end it is a different way to do the same thing. Make music, and enjoy yourself doing it...

Final words: Apple is about enabling, and connecting with, everyone. And that is exactly what GarageBand does. Child or adult this is simply the best mobile music making app out there which is accessible to all. Not the best overall for me personally. But I suspect I may be in the minority there. GarageBand is also priced very aggressively for all the features of such high quality that it offers. And that is because Apple plans to shift a lot of copies. Which they will. Because GarageBand is a must have iPad app. Highly Recommended.

GarageBand for iPad

Intro: GarageBand for iPad was introduced to the world by Steve Jobs during Apple's much-anticipated iPad 2 event, bringing the promise of desktop-like audio recording and editing to Apple's tablet. On paper, the app certainly sounds the real-deal; it boasts eight-track recording, Smart Instruments (which lets even novices create compositions like a champ), Touch Instruments (which let you tap out tunes), sampling, an intuitive interface, the ability to share your recordings, and much, much more...

Final words: Should You Buy Garageband for iPad? Simply put, GarageBand for iPad is a must-have for the musician, aspiring musician, podcaster, or music fan who wants to create compositions, shows, or any other audio project. GarageBand for Pad isn't perfect--I don't like that it requires tinkering in order to record long vocal sessions, and I long to be able to transfer tracks to a Mac to continue editing--but the .99 app is affordably priced and surprisingly feature-rich, making it an obvious selection for an Editors' Choice Award.

GarageBand For iPad Review

Intro: Ever since the iPad’s introduction people have wondered why GarageBand (or any of the other iLife software for that matter) wasn’t available. Rumors of its development came and went, and budding musicians across the nation grinded their teeth in anticipation. After a while other app developers began filling the void with various instrument apps, recording apps, and even sequencers, and while some of them were quite impressive, non of them offered the ease and versatility that Apple’s flagship music creation software is known for. There wasn’t anything quite like Apple’s GarageBand available anywhere except on Apple’s own line of computers and laptops, until now. When Apple introduced their latest generation iPad they released a whole set of iLife apps, and now GarageBand is more portable than ever before. The question is, was it worth the wait?...

Final words: Apple did a great job making their portable version of GarageBand accessible for beginners, but feature rich enough for real musicians. It isn’t going to replace a real studio set-up, but it’s definitely more than a novelty. Their price point is really competitive too. As I said before there are options within GarageBand that could’ve been separate apps altogether.

Final words: With very little effort you can strum out the chords to a favourite song with the Smart Guitar instrument. If you need a funky beat to get you out of bed in the morning, you can assemble it with Smart Drums. If you want to do nothing more than piece together a podcast theme with loops and a voiceover, it’s easily done. And if your nine-year-old is getting antsy in the back seat, pass along the iPad and suggest that she play with the Sampler.

GarageBand for iPad Review

Intro: Apple released its two new flagship iPad apps today, and much to the surprise of original iPad owners, GarageBand is available for both the iPad 2 and the original iPad. While last year’s model doesn’t make the cut for iMovie, GarageBand goes for a measly in the app store starting today. While it might not be as snappy and fluid on the original model as it is on the iPad 2, it’s still an incredible app for the money and a giant step forward for tablet app interfaces...

Final words: Overall, GarageBand for iPad is a huge leap forward for tablet applications. It’s pretty incredible that a device which so many had dismissed as never going to be useful for work has evolved to the point that there is an app this powerful in only a year. On the original iPad GarageBand does have its limitations, however, meaning that loading times were very noticeable and some of the dragging effects and transitions in between different areas lagged somewhat. It’s obvious that this app was designed with the iPad 2 in mind, but it’s really nice that Apple decided to not leave out its 15 million original iPad owners. If you’re a music junkie, band member, or even just like to tinker with the newest apps, at $5 GarageBand is a must get.
