The Macotakara claims, referring to "reliable sources in Asia", that Apple may change the long-time used dock connector first time in the iPad 3. The blog discovered the new connector on the list of TVC-Mall, and they claim that it will still have 30 pins, but it will take up much smaller space.
If the rumors proves to be true, then Apple is likely to work on reducing the thickness of iPad, where dock connector size could be a limiting factor. The story hasn't been confirmed by other sources so far.
The question is wheter Apple would really stop using the dock connector, which has been used for 9 years, as this would cause compatibility problems, which could only be solved with adapters.
According to the Macatokara the next iPad will also have 9.7" display like its predecessor, but they didn't provide information that its resolution would really be 2048x1536 pixels, as earlier rumors claimed. According to the latest news iPad 3 could be on store shelves next March. Assembling the new tablet could begin in late January, after the Chinese New Year celebrations.
