At 10 a.m. this morning the big moments finally arrived, which we've been waiting for long, the Apple's fall media event called Let's talk iPhone event, where we finally learned that the new phone is called iPhone 4S, and we got to know the final version of the new operating system, iOS 5 as well.

The new phone's appearance has not changed, therefore it is called 4S, but the hardware has been greatly improved. The new phone using iOS 5 was introduced with genius new features to the public.

Here's what happened this morning.

At exactly 10 a.m. Apple's new chief executive officer, Tim Cook, took to the stage of Town Hall room in Apple's headquarters, where the first iPod and the MacBook Air had been presented before.

At the beginning of the presentation Tim Cook spoke about the success of Apple Stores, then he praised the popularity of OS-X Lion, showing numeric data about the success of Apple's operating system on the market.

After that Tim Cook was talking about the success of iPod and iTunes, as well as that of iPad and its applications, next he went on to speak about the popularity of the iPhone, which today's event was actually about.

Then Scott Forstall took the stage, who first spoke about the success of the iOS applications, and then he listed some of the new features of iOS 5 that we had already got to know earlier: Notifications, iMessage, Reminders, Twitter integration, Newsstand, camera buttons, over-the-air update method, etc...

And we were informed about the most important thing we had been waiting for a long time: iOS 5 will be available for download for newer iOS devices from next Wednesday, 12nd October.

After that Eddy Cue appeared on the stage and spoke about iCloud and its benefits, introducing a brand new feature called Find My Friends.

iTunes Match service has also been mentioned, which makes it easy to legalize our songs illegally downloaded or copied from a CD. At the moment this service will be available only in the USA at the end of October. Other countries weren't mentioned.

Phil Scott took to the stage, who presented the upgraded iPod Nano and the new, white iPod Touch devices, and then came what everybody was waiting for: the new iPhone.

The name is iPhone 4S, the exterior is similar to its predecessor, but the interior is completely different. For example, the processor of iPad 2, called A5, was built in the phone, which makes the device twice as fast as its predecessor, and the performance of the graphics accelerator is seven times faster.

The speed of mobile data transfer has been increased significantly, as well. The iPhone still uses the 3G standard, but the download speed is 14.4 Mbits instead of 7.2 Mbits, by a redesigned antenna. The new phone supports both GSM and CDMA standards.

The resolution of the camera has increased from 5 megapixels to 8, which allows taking photos up to 3264x2448 resolution. The new CMOS sensor will get by 73% more light, so there will be less noisy image in lower light conditions. The camera is by 33 % faster, and there's a face detection feature and automatic white balance adjustment. The video recorder part of the camera has a new feature as well: a realtime image stabilization.

Finally, the big innovation, Siri Voice Assistant application that provides voice recognition and the ability of various interactions based on understanding the text.

This is not the usual voice recognition system, which only recognises exact and well-spoken texts, but also, in fact, an intelligent system, which understands a particular questions or instruction phrases in any way.

For example, you can set an alarm by telling the iPhone what time you want to get up. Or, if you ask about a particular restaurant, it will find it for you. It's brilliant.

A message comes that your iPhone will read for you. For example, a friend of yours wants to have lunch with you on Friday. We ask the iPhone whether we have an engagement in the Calendar at 12 o'clock on Friday. The device responds that there are none. Then we say what to reply to this message: 'Meet you Friday.' It's awesome.

You can use it for navigation, searching for information on the web, dictation, browsing the web, appointments and everything. It can convert between units of measurement systems, search for people and expressions, if you do not know the exact meaning.

And finally, the prices: iPhone 4S will cost $199, $299 and $399, iPhone 4 will cost $99. In the first round it will be available in the USA, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. It will be available for order from 7th October, and can be collected from 14th October, and in other countries from 28th October.

Finally, Tim Cook took the stage again and briefly summarized the quintessence of the event: iOS 5, iCloud, new iPod Nano and iPod Touch in white, and the star of the day: the new iPhone 4S with the hardware of iPad 2, with a bright camera, and a brilliant voice recognition system.

So, this is what happened in Cupertino today.
