Facebook app did its job very well on iPhone, but for some reason it hasn't been made for iPad till now. The official line was that iPad can be used well from a web browser interface. But it was neither quick nor easy, we scolded Facebook a lot: Why isn't there an app yet? Finally, today, without any prior notice, the application was added to the App Store.
The iPad app is not just a scaled version of the mobile application, but a perfectly redesigned, re-interpreted app.
On the left side there's a navigation bar, which summarizes our things on Facebook superbly: groups, messages, events, friends, pages, apps, etc. In the center part of the screen there's the news feed, while on the right side we can see the chat default, and comments on status updates as well.
Navigation, by the way, is incredibly smooth, enjoyable, it shows that the application is was much thought about.
The only thing we resented a bit: the status updates can be shared only with one group of friends at a time, we cannot select more than one group.
We can swipe photos the same way as we can do it with the images in the photo album of iPad, moreover, they can be seen in fullscreen mode. And we can play high resolution videos as well.
Once someone logins into the app, then their username with their photo will appear after starting the app. We just have to tap on ours, type our password, and it is done.
It's a well-done, stop-gap app anyway.
